The UT Austin Air Force ROTC Commander, Colonel Paul Tombarge, created an excellent recruiting presentation and has shared it on YouTube. While it does include information specific for UT Austin, he also covers information about the program in general that will be extremely useful for students interested in the Air Force. I'd greatly appreciate it if you are able to share it with your students.
This information will be particularly valuable with the upcoming opening for Air Force ROTC High School Scholarship applications for 2021 graduates. The application portal will open on June 1st, and students can access it via this link. My recommendation for students is to prioritize SAT/ACT prep, along with a focus on maintaining or improving their GPA. With COVID, I know many SAT/ACT test dates have been cancelled, but as of now that is still a requirement for the scholarship. Students must have a 1240/26 on either of the tests, and a minimum 3.0 unweighted GPA in order to apply for this scholarship. Along with these necessary academic scores, students will also have to take the Physical Fitness Assessment, and will be invited to interview if they reach the necessary standards. Students will come to you for transcript certification forms, and may need assistance uploading SAT/ACT scores down the line as they are submitted through the College Board. The latest students can apply is mid-January (the specific date is TBD). Thank you all for your help with spreading these opportunities!
Thank you so much - I hope all is well! Feel free to give students my contact information if they have any additional questions.
