Greetings from UVM,

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact all of us both personally and professionally, I wanted to reach out and send our best wishes to you, your family, and your school community. I am writing to share answers to questions that we imagine you are getting from your students and their families. We are hearing them too, and it's our hope to share what can in this unprecedented time as we all attempt to navigate the ever-changing landscape togetheras partnersin this process.

Acceptance Fee Deadline

Our acceptance fee deadline will remain May 1, 2020. This decision was made in considering our earlier decision notifications (December for Early Action and February for Regular Decision) and in facing the reality that visits to campus will not be possible in the month of May. We have offered extensive virtual admitted student programming to introduce students to our community. It's our hope that these efforts will enable students to make a choice with confidence and provide closure to the decision process.

Recognizing that some students will not be able to decide by the May 1, deadline, enrollment fee extension requests will be considered on case by case basis, prioritizing cases of specific personal circumstance. We will be as flexible as possible, understanding that asks based on inability to visit, weighing competing offers, or general uncertainty are less likely to be granted.

New Student Orientation

In place of our traditional fully residential Orientation, we are planning a re-imagined new student orientation, engagement, and transition program that will span the summer months and include live virtual events and self-paced elements. We will provide updates as information becomes available.

Virtual Visit Events

While we wish that we were able to welcome visitors to Burlington right now,  we are committed to safety and will continue to follow public health guidelines. We have just wrapped up six Virtual Admitted Student Days, and we continue to offer our Virtual Information Sessions several times a week. You can learn more about our virtual visit options here.

Transcripts & Standardized Testing

We will accept pass/fail grades on transcripts during this time, including for graduating seniors. Enrolling students will still be required to send a final high school transcript with a graduation date, but we will consider extenuating circumstances as they arise.

We will require either the SAT or ACT for all domestic, first year applicants in the Fall of 2021, but will continue to monitor the situation closely.

Advanced Placement (AP) & International Baccalaureate (IB)

At this time we will accept any College Board administered AP exam with official score report for course credit. UVM still requires an official IB or A-level Diploma with IB or A-level grades in order to be eligible for course credit.

Extended Transfer Deadline

To ensure our Transfer students are still able to complete an application for Fall 2020, we have extended our Priority Transfer Application deadline to June 30 and are also accepting emailed PDF formatted High School Transcripts as official documents if sent directly from the high school counseling office or the Registrar. These can be emailed directly to admissions@uvm.edu. Prospective transfer students can still expect a timely review of their completed application and transfer credits.

We know that your students will likely have lots of questions, and we will continue to stay in touch with you in order to provide updates as soon as we are able. I encourage you to contact us with any questions, as we look forward to hearing from you, and hopefully seeing you on campus soon.

Be well, stay safe, and take care of each other.

University of Tulsa

Below is a list of links students can utilize to learn everything they need to know about The University of Tulsa.

DISCOVER TU: LET'S GET VIRTUAL! - Historically, Discover TU is an on-campus event for admitted students and their families. It was scheduled for Friday, April 10, but was canceled due to the COVID-19 crisis. As this event has been known to help students decide if TU was their right fit, our office has put together a virtual version. Also slated for April 10, students and parents will have the opportunity to sit in on sessions with the Student Success Center staff about how to "excel at college", learn more about housing options and Greek Life and hear from Head TU Football Coach Philip Montgomery and our University Ambassadors. Details and registration information can be found here.

CONNECT WITH A PROFESSOR - Our professors want to talk with students about opportunities within their academic program. Research, curriculum, student organizations, graduation rates and where students are finding jobs can be topics of discussion.

CONNECT WITH UNIVERSITY AMBASSADORS - We know high school seniors want to know more about what it's really like to be a TU student. Now they can ask a University Ambassador online. Our tour guides are disappointed they can't give tours in person, but they are available to call or email prospective students about anything and everything TU!

SIGN UP FOR A VIRTUAL ADMISSION PRESENTATION - If prospective students didn't get a chance to visit TU, they can register for a virtual admission presentation and see what they would have seen if they were visiting campus in person. They can also ask questions during the online program. We want to answer all their questions!

WATCH A VIRTUAL TOUR OF CAMPUS - Since we can't show prospective students around in person, they can watch this video for an inside peek at some of our most talked about buildings on campus. Myles, a University Ambassador, and Brooke, TU's College Readiness Coordinator, will show them around!

NOT VIRTUAL, BUT IMPORTANT - As May 1 is approaching, we want students to know we understand if they aren't ready to commit by this date. We have not formally extended the deadline, but we are telling students that we will welcome them whenever they are ready to make TU their school of choice. However, we want them to also know that once a decision is made, they can then move forward with enrolling in classes, selecting a residence hall and having peace of mind that their college journey has truly begun. In short, we want what is best for them regardless of the timeframe.

Test Optional
McMurry University Announces Test-Optional
for Fall of 2020 Admission

To alleviate some of the challenges that incoming first-time students are facing, McMurry University is immediately moving to a Test-Optional Policy. The use of SAT and/or ACT test scores is now optional as a criterion for Fall 2020 acceptance decisions for qualifying students. To be accepted under test-optional, a minimum high school GPA of 3.0 or better will be required, and the student will have a prerequisite of completing an online survey.

"During these challenging times, McMurry University is implementing innovative strategies to assist our incoming students whose college planning and preparation are being disrupted by the COVID-19 situation," said University President Dr. Sandra S. Harper. "With SAT and ACT tests currently suspended from being administered, we decided to make a shift to accommodate the needs of our incoming class."

"McMurry traditionally considers other student characteristics during the acceptance process," said Norm Jones, Interim Associate Vice President of Enrollment Management. "We are taking this time to view the current challenge as an opportunity for the university to explore further student attributes like school and community involvement, leadership, and service that align with McMurry's mission and core values."

While test scores have become optional for students with GPAs of 3.0 or better, students are encouraged to submit test scores if they believe their scores accurately represent their abilities. For those seniors who believe their high school academic record and GPA better reflect their abilities and potential, we will consider admission and merit awards based on a test optional basis. At McMurry we understand test scores are not always the best indicator of human potential.

The McMurry University application is found on home page atmcm.edu or click here to apply.

University of Oklahoma

Hello from the University of Oklahoma!

As we all continue to navigate the college admissions process during the COVID-19 outbreak, I wanted to check in with some updates. In order to give students more time to decide where they’ll be attending college, we have decided to extend our enrollment commitment deadline to June 1 and we are now accepting updated ACT/SAT test scores through July 31. We have also recently created a webpage listing all of these updates, as well as some of our big plans for the next recruitment cycle here.

In regards to summer plans, you can find updates and changes here. We are also keeping a close eye on housing and we are encouraging students to refer to their website for the latest information.

In the meantime, I wanted to give you an update on your students who have applied to OU. Attached is a list of students who have received an admission decision from us, a list of students who are missing items (and what they are missing), a list of students who have applied and are awaiting a decision, and finally, a list of students who have submitted their enrollment commitment and scheduled their online New Sooner Orientation. The document is password protected. Please use: boomer. Also, friendly remember this list is confidential, so please do not share the information with others. Please allow two to three weeks for submitted documents to be assigned to a student’s account.  If you have already submitted the documentation that is being requested in this time frame, we may still be processing it.

You’ll notice that one missing item may be a final transcript, please ignore this right now, as this will not need to be submitted until the end of the school year. We know that grades may look different in this time of uncertainty and we are prepared to evaluate what you all are able to provide. Please note that this list does not include students who have started but not submitted the Common Application or Coalition Application, so it may not be an extensive list.

Finally, please let me know if I can help you with any questions whatsoever. I want to serve as a resource for you and your students. I know this is a difficult time for everyone, so please let me know how I can assist.

I really look forward to seeing your students at OU next fall!

Best wishes,

Mr. Taylor Petersen
