Kalamazoo College Admissions Assistance

More in Four. More in a Lifetime.
Kalamazoo College

Greetings from the admission team at Kalamazoo College! We recognize that this is an uncertain time for you and many of your students; we’re reaching out to ensure that you are certain about K’s compassionate commitment to Future Hornets. We’re committed to the following:
  • Grace for late applications and decision deadlines. If your students are still considering K and have not yet applied, please encourage them to reach out to our admission team. Similarly, if your students have any concerns about meeting our May 1st decision deadline, please have them contact their respective admission counselors.
  • Financial aid for special circumstances. If student financial situations should change at any time, please know that K’s financial aid appeals process exists for this purpose.
  • Enrollment deposit flexibility. If your students have special financial concerns regarding enrollment deposits, please encourage them to contact their respective admission counselors to arrange a reduced-cost deposit. Enrollment deposits are applied to the first-semester bill; should students need to defer enrollment, they can apply their deposit to a future term.
  • Understanding toward credit/no credit grades. We’re happy to accept transcripts that document the grades awarded by your high school. We know that many high schools are changing to pass/fail or credit/no credit assessments, while others are actively considering their options.
  • Case-by-case approach to AP, IB and dual enrollment credit. Our policy toward evaluating credit for these exams has not changed; we’re looking into equitable solutions for all students. As soon as we learn more about changes to these exams, we’ll get in touch with you with more details about our approach.
  • Accepting Duolingo in place of TOEFL. The College has added Duolingo to the list of exams accepted as proof of English proficiency by applicants from non-English speaking countries or school systems. Please see our language proficiency policy for more details and exemptions.
  • Celebrating our test optional policyWe’ve been proudly test optional since 2015. We believe that K students go beyond “all of the above”; if taking the SAT or ACT is not feasible for your students, we understand.

Sincerely,
Suzanne Lepley
