I wanted to reach out and share some exciting news. On September 1, 2019 a new law took effect which reduces the training requirements for Cosmetology licensure in Texas. Under this new law, the program length for Cosmetology has been reduced by 33% from 1,500 to 1,000 hours. This makes Texas one of the fastest and most affordable states in the United States to pursue a career as a cosmetologist. Starting sometime in 2020, the following changes will take place that we want students to be aware of:
⦁ Graduate 2-3 months faster
⦁ Enter workforce more quickly
⦁ Save money on the cost of attendance
These changes are just around the corner and we want to make sure students have the most up to date knowledge. Through the rule-making process, the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation will create the rules to implement the above law changes in 2020. They will be required to allow public comment regarding the implementation of the regulations, and we will share that information with you once it is available.
We hope that these exciting changes will help many students overcome previously existing obstacles to this incredible career.
