Wichita State University Virtual Visits

Virtual Resources:
-        HARN Virtual Resources: You may have already received this elsewhere, but I wanted to re-share two awesome resources created by the Houston Area Recruiters Network (HARN) that might be of use to you! Please feel free to share both with your students.
o   HARN Youtube Channel: Includes multiple videos aimed at juniors and seniors on the college search journey. Each video covers a different topic (in-state vs. out-of-state, student services, fine arts, STEM, etc.): YouTube Channel
o   University Online Resources: Here’s a list of your local admissions reps in HARN, how to schedule virtual visits, how to contact them, etc… Awesome resource! University Online Resources

-        WSU Virtual Group Visits: Caitlyn Fowler from our office of admissions would like to invite school groups of 10 or more to virtually engage with Wichita State! If you have a group interested in taking part in one of our group visits, reach out to Caitlin at Caitlyn.fowler@wichita.edu to set up a time! Each virtual group visit includes an admissions presentation, virtual campus tour from two current students/tour guides, and a Q&A session with the current students and staff members hosting the visit! Reach out if you’re interested!

COVID-19 Updates:

-        Orientation: Our first-year programming office is currently working on moving all of our orientation dates for this summer to an online format for students. Those seniors who have registered for one of our original dates received an update from our first year programming office about the change to a virtual format. Information about orientation changes, including a FAQ section, can be found at: www.wichita.edu/orientation
-        Merit Scholarship Deadline: At this time, our priority deadline is still set for November 1st, however this may change with the cancellation of the June SAT, and the likely cancellation of the June ACT (not currently cancelled as of this email being written). Financial aid has not yet stated whether the date will be changed.
-        Financial Aid Changes: If you are experiencing additional hardships due to the pandemic, contact the Office of Financial Aid for possible adjustments to your federal aid application (FAFSA) –finaid@wichita.edu
o   May 1 is still the acceptance deadline for scholarships.
-        Housing: Room selection has been pushed back slightly, and our housing department has created a housing timeline webpage to detail the updates for housing: Housing Timeline webpage.
-        Senior Next Steps are at URL wichita.edu/Senior_StepsThese are the items any senior planning to enroll for fall 2020 has to complete!
-        Passage 2 Success – I encourage students from diverse backgrounds, as well as first-generation college students, to sign up for this on-campus program beginning four days before move-in day. Lots of resources, getting to know each other and the WSU & Wichita communities. More information is at www.wichita.edu/p2s

As always, please let me know how I can be of service to students during this time. I’d love to connect virtually with any student who has questions, so just reach out with anything you may need!
